A Sense of Wonder

If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.

One way to open your eyes is to ask yourself, "What if I had never seen this before? What if I knew I would never see it again?"

The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.

  1. Spot on. I think the sense of wonder disappears in so many children because no one shares that sense of wonder with them. To so many adults these days, a tree is just a tree, a rainbow just a bit of colour in the sky. It saddens me to see so many people plugged into their technology that their eyes are closed to the world and the wonder around them. The people who then suffer are their children. We need to be willing and to want to share our children's experiences, to keep that magic and wonder alive. And it's not just keeping the wonders of the world and universe alive, it's making sure that we bring up children who are confident and whose opinions we value and take the time to listen to. A great post. Thank you
